Cross House, Chester

Our part of the project was to design the planting, consult on the landscaping and recommend a professional landscaper to install the design.

A small city courtyard at the rear of a Grade II listed property in Chester, Cheshire. The house belonging to a high end Architectural 3D Visualiser (above image provided by client), has been renovated and rejuvenated with a contemporary, creative and sympathetic extension. The space is entirely enclosed and only accessible through the main house and when you are in the garden you experience a feeling of total emersion of relaxing at an exotic oasis.

Leaves, large, lush and bright, small deep green and glossy , textural ferns and strappy grasses make up a living picture of a verdant urban jungle. All viewed through huge, bespoke floor to ceiling glass doors.

The flooring is a balance of treated oak decking and polished concrete slabs, materials used in the interior design.

It may seem impossible for to have a tropical garden in Northern England, but given the typical climate pattern for Chester and the microclimate created in this new courtyard these plants will thrive.
